Cambridge has been described as one of the most beautiful cities in Britain and has a wealth of Museums, Galleries and Exhibitions coveriing a wide range of interests.

The city takes its name from the crossing of the River Cam. Today Cambridge is a thriving city of some 100,000 people. Its commercial heart is surrounded by fine buildings and green open spaces. The Backs, the famous grass-covered banks of the River Cam, are carpeted with crocus and daffodils in Spring.

Cambridge Contemporary Art
 
Cambridge Contemporary Art specialises in handmade prints, paintings, sculptures and crafts. Situated just a stone's throw from King's College, the gallery is in the heart of the beautiful, historic University city. Fitzwilliam Museum
 
Highlights include masterpieces of painting from the fourteenth century to the present day, drawings and prints, sculpture, furniture, armour, pottery and glass, oriental art, illuminated manuscripts, coins and medals and antiquities from Egypt, the Ancient Near East, Greece, Rome and Cyprus.

Folk Museum
 
The Cambridge & County Folk Museum has been open to the public for over 60 years, providing a fascinating insight into the history of Cambridge for local people and tourists alike.
The Museum is housed in the former White Horse Inn, a timber-framed building, the earliest parts of which date back to the late 16th century. It is located in the most ancient part of Cambridge, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the City.

Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
 
The University of Cambridge Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology houses the University's collections of local antiquities, together with archaeological and ethnographic artefacts from around the world.
The Museum's primary mission is to support teaching and research within the University and to make its resources available to as wide a public as possible.
Founded in 1884, its collections are officially Designated by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as being of outstanding national and international importance.

Museum of Classical Archaeology
 
The Museum of Classical Archaeology is one of the few surviving collections of casts of Greek & Roman sculpture in the world. The public collection of the Museum is made up of over six hundred plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures. The collection is housed on the first floor of the Classics Faculty.

Museum of Technology
 
The Cambridge Museum of Technology is based in the Old Steam Pumping Station which retains the original engines, pumps and boilers.
In addition to the original equipment from the pumping station, the museum holds many examples of products made by Pye of Cambridge and The Cambridge Instrument Company. Housed in a former workshop is the working exhibition of letterpress-printing equipment ranging from early hand operated presses to power machinery, including hot metal casters.

New Hall Art Collection

Scott Polar Museum
 
The Scott Polar Research Institute was founded in 1920, in Cambridge, as a memorial to Captain Robert Falcon Scott, RN, and his four companions, who died returning from the South Pole in 1912. When Scott's last words, "For God's sake look after our people" were made known to the British nation, the response was tremendous. Scott himself had emphasised the importance of science and from this plea, the Institute was born.

Whipple Museum
 
The museum's holdings are particularly strong in material dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries, especially objects produced by English instrument makers, although the collection contains objects dating from the medieval period to the present day. Instruments of astronomy, navigation, surveying, drawing and calculating are well represented, as are sundials, mathematical instruments and early electrical apparatus.
