About Ixworth House B&B
Built in 1908 for Dr Gelston, the village doctor, Ixworth House is a magnificent Edwardian property retaining and displaying a wealth of exceptional and original features associated with a home of the early 20th century. These include original leaded and stained glass windows, sweeping staircase, period fireplaces, plaster cornicing and panelled internal doors throughout.
Owned by John & Sharyn Snell, the excellence of Ixworth House has been recognised by the AA, with a 5 Star gold award (May 2013).
Ixworth House has also received outstanding guest reviews on TripAdvisor.co.uk and LateRooms.com.
The three spacious en-suite bedrooms available to B&B guests have been decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Two rooms are en-suite shower rooms whilst the third room has a roll top bath with a shower over.
A warm welcome awaits those travelling either for pleasure or business. A good night’s sleep in one of our supremely comfortable beds, a luxurious shower or wallow in the roll-top bath (Bedroom 3), then savour a delicious breakfast in our chic and elegant Dining Room (or if you need to depart early for a meeting, enjoy our ‘On the Move’ picnic) which will set you up for a great day.
Ixworth House has ample off road parking and stands within generous grounds of approximately three quarters of an acre.
It offers a quiet, peaceful stay. Within less than 5 minutes walking distance, the village of Ixworth has a choice of two public houses, both serving food. Alternatively, a reservation can be made for a table at Theobalds, an excellent restaurant which provides a superb menu with seasonal dishes.
The award winning Leaping Hare restaurant of Wyken is just a few miles down the road. Additional restaurants and places to eat can be recommended and are within a short drive of Ixworth. During the day, the High Street Café offers a full range of snacks and light bites.
A good range of friendly village shops includes a newsagent, ladies fashion, antiques and the Post Office. We also have two hairdressers, a beautician and seam-stress.
