About Anchor at Walberswick
For a relatively small village pub we are pleased to have a good range of characterful draught beers, fifty world class bottled beers, organic soft drinks and 150 drop dead lovely wines from some of the earth’s most inspired winemakers.
We have sought to show only those wines and beers that we would actively seek to drink if the flood waters were to surround Walberswick and we became an island “entire of itself"
Walberswick lies in an enviable position at the mouth of the Blyth estuary and at the heart of Sole Bay, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The long open beach backed by sand dunes provides a gentle gradient into the sea which means there is safe and enjoyable bathing for all ages at almost all times of the year
Eating at The Anchor
We like to follow the path of the seasons and use produce from our and the village’s allotments, market gardens and neighbours’ gardens. We want to keep food miles down of course, but not at the expense of quality or variety.
We are thrilled to be voted number 36 on the Top 50 Gastro Awards today, 27th January 2014.
Feedback from Stu McKinlay, Head Boy, Yeastie Boys
I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you again for such a wonderful experience while Sam and I were over. We really couldn't have dreamed of a better place to visit (and work with) than Adnams and Southwold... but The Anchor at Walberswick really was the unexpected diamond. You were all fantastic hosts, not just you Mark but your welcoming staff and the friendly locals. And the weather! What wonderful weather, wherever we went - even Edinburgh! We certainly didn't expect that...
