About Southwold Pier

Whether you want to eat, play or shop there's a world of fun for the whole family. Open every day, except Christmas Day from 9am (Easter to October), 10am (November to March).

We have 3-styles of eating:

The Boardwalk Family Restaurant, bistro style furniture out on the boards in the sunshine open all day for coffees and cakes, lunches, cream teas and suppers. Special high tea offered from 5.30 - 7pm in the summer. Last food orders 8.30pm.

The Clockhouse Brasseries - siutated near Tim Hunkin's famously cheeky Water Clock. Enjoy a selection of delicious coffees, cakes and local foods.

The Promenade Café offers great fish and chips to eat in or take out as well as a selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks and cold drinks for picnics on the beach.

The Under The Pier Show just gets better and better with Tim Hunkin's imagination running away with him. Come and 'walk the dog', see what is lurking in the sea under the pier in the 'Bathyscope'. Get your Mother-in-law 'frisked' or take a lesson on the 'Hunkin Eldercare' and practice for your old age. The Water Clock is still keeping time and is a wonder to watch as it marks every half hour with its charming and cheeky antics. Get to the end of the pier and try the latest invention from the Hunkin Laboratory, The Quantum Tunnelling Telescope, a hilarious take on just what there is to see whilst looking over the North Sea - mermaids, shark attacks, hair-raising sea rescues!

We have three delightful shops for that little something to remind you of your time in Southwold: Highly unusual to be found on a Pier, Seaweed and Salt is a lifestyle store, it has a fabulous range of ceramics, textiles and 'must have' gifts, as well as stocking locally produced jams, ciders and juices. Mermaids & Pirates is a shop brimming with traditional toys and games and perfect for pocket money spending. The Treasure Chest is where you will find charming nautical souvenirs and keepsakes, seaside rock and delicious, locally made ice cream.

Whatever the weather you can have fun in the traditional Amusement Arcade. The children just love to re-discover the two-penny pushers, thrash dad on the air hockey table, do some 'spider stomping' and have a go with the 'guitar heroes'. There are tickets to win and then redeem on lots of exciting prizes.

If you've come unprepared for the beach, don't worry, we have a Bucket & Spade shop for everything you could possibly want for a great day at the seaside with the family - buckets, spades, ball games, beach shoes, towels....

Remember - Southwold Pier is a breath of fresh air!
