38' Day Hire Narrowboat

March Wanderer.

“There is nothing—absolutely nothing– half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” as Ratty said to Mole in Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows.

Our day boat hire lets you meander along the
tranquil Fenland Waterways through the town of March Eastwards towards the village of Upwell. Pass through the Marmont Priory lock and the village unfolds before you. Upwell is one of the most picturesque villages in Fenland.

junction of the Wisbech Canal before ‘winding’ (turning) your boat and heading back to our base at March.
(approx 61/2 cruising hours return)

Alternatively head west passing Floods Ferry
Marina Park and crossing the Greenwich Meridian before arriving at Ashline Lock and the town of Whittlesey. ‘wind’ your boat above the lock, picnic in Manor Fields before commencing the return journey to March.

Turn the experience into a 2 day mini break (max 4 adults 2 children) and continue from Outwell basin to the village of Nordelph, ‘wind the boat and journey back to the Crown Lodge hotel (01945 773391) for dinner or a bar snack

Alternatively you can dine aboard. Wake to the sounds of ducks and moorhens before commencing your journey back. There will be time to visit the town of March before returning to our base.

Holiday narrowboats are traditional: they have a solid build, the boats are to easy to control, optimal use of space is used inside.

We have spent 25 years developing our narrow boats. We have attained a traditional narrow boat style that has: a solid build, easy control and optimal use of space. The holiday narrowboat exteriors are regularly maintained and painted with a stylish colour scheme.

The holiday narrowboats interiors are designed with the comforts of home in mind

The narrowboats are carpeted in the saloon and cabin. Easy clean floors are installed in the galley and bathroom. The holiday narrowboats are fitted throughout with mahogany in cupboards, wardrobes, drawers and shelves you will not find any space in the narrow boat left unutilised.

All the holiday narrowboats have: colour TV, hot water, heating and comfortable furnishings throughout?

All the holiday narrowboats have windows down both sides, allowing for plenty of fresh air and sunlight. At night time simply draw the curtains for privacy. The lounge/dining area has a stereo radio cassette, colour TV (at no extra cost), a fold out table with comfortable furnishings all around. With all the modern kitchen facilities equipping the narrow boat galley, you will find a full size cooker, fridge with small freezer compartment, sink unit, plenty of work tops and storage cupboards.

Most narrowboats have one cabin with a fixed double berth and seating which converts into single or double berths. Duvets, pillows, covers and sheets are provided for all the beds and towels for overseas customers are provided at no extra charge. The bathroom has a full size wash basin, flushing toilet and a shower compartment with constant hot water. All our boats have gas fired central heating for perfect comfort throughout the seasons.

The boat holiday package is complete and there is even no extra charge for fuel

On arrival there will be a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits, various maps, pamphlets and a comprehensive narrow boat manual offering helpful advice along the way. All our narrowboats are licenced and fees have been paid to GOBA authorities to enable you to use their moorings both night and day.
